Valimor: the Micro Watch Brand for your Inner Geek

Today I'm taking a look at another Micro Watch brand that has hit my radar, Valimor. If you enjoy the film First Knight with Richard Gere and Sean Connery, and let’s face it, who doesn't,  then Valimor is probably for you. The brand name itself stands for "VALIant" and "arMOR", which comes with intricate saw-tooth cut bezels, sword-shaped hands, and a scratch resistant patented custom antiquing process for the watch cases. 

All of this is the brainchild of Raymond Jones, the brand's founder who has 15 years of the watch game industry. Here are some thoughts just on first sight, of the Kilgharrah. 

Editor's Pick

At first glance the Kilgharrah is one of the most detailed watch I've seen. The snake skin pattern on the box, with some gold-gilded embossing would make for a perfect gift presentation, even if it is only for yourself. 

I'll list more specs below, but for now it's available in blue, blacks, browns, some rubber and bracelets straps. 

Rumours are in some reviews that the uni directional bezel is a bit bouncy but the advice is not to let it bug you because there is a lot more going on with this watch. 

It's a dateless watch, with an exhibition case back. Complete with some heavy duty engraving on the rotor giving it a  very bespoke feel. 

The dial 

This is one of the huge lures for me. The dial is triple layered, with a fume effect that creates a snakeskin aesthetic. It's clear that a beautiful amount of workmanship has gone into this dial, evident in the detail between the markers. It's a dial that you continue to study, in every corner and facet.

The handset has been diamond cut leaving a dagger-esque finish which gives it a lot of personality. The Editor of the TThe Watcher in his review calls these:

"[...] some of the best looking hands I've seen."

Other details 

The crown looks to have a beautiful shape and grip. Going back to the bezel, the saw tooth cerated look offers a 'tail of the dragon' type feel. Or in my book, a homage to the Rolex Submariner in Live and Let Die. The limited editions number give it that exclusivity and by all accounts it fits very comfy on the wrist.

This is a really well designed and executed watch. Kudos to the brand owner for giving us something interesting, thoroughly consistent in theme and design language, and yet not too over-themed to wear. It would be a great addition to a large collection. The case height just kills it for me, sadly. Great review, and thank you for highlighting a brand to watch.

The Dungeons and Dragons and Harry Potter fans will snap these beauties up! Valimor Voldemort. I wouldn't worry about the bezel either. Yes, it would be better if it's tighter, but it's not a big issue, particularly how well it's priced for a limited edition. Maybe I should try to find my wand and try to magic some money into my watch budget account.
