Direnzo Watches: The Futuristic Micro Brand Watch you never Knew You Needed

Today I'm going to be digging deep into another Micro Watch Brand, Direnzo Watches. Direnzo is the brainchild of Sergio Godoy Di Renzo who when he moved to Geneva, Switzerland in 2014, was working as an architect, and enlisted on a watch design course for fun.

Direnzo's first Kickstarter microbrand watch campaign got off the ground in 2017, and ended up funding in just 4 hours after it launched. Direnzo Watches limited editions are highly sought after, and we wouldn't be surprised if they go up in value over time.

Direnzo make a certain amount of each model then move on. Each watch seems to sell between 500-1000 bucks and I'm very enamored with the design which seems to be both retro and futuristic at the same time.

Editors Pick

In particular I wanted to look at the DRZ 06 Wandering Star which comes in blue, black and green. It's very different from most mechanical watches and has some uncommon features. Noticeable the dial. The dial has those lollipop markers and a lume filled troth between the markers. The dial has radio brushing and fuma finishing meaning its gradient and darker near the edges, lighter in the middle. It has a very cool take on the second hand which is a red dot. Which according to the website;

This means that now the red dot or ‘Wandering Star’ is a floating point that plays with light. The result is not only practical but also aesthetically pleasant.

Let's talk spec

  • Movement: Sellita SW-216-1 Elaboré + Incabloc

  • Case: 316L Steel with scratch resistance coating (HV 800)

  • Power reserve: 45 Hours

Comment on YouTube I agree with :

I think that manual mechanical watches are a bit more, sentimental, than automatic watches. You have to take the time to wind it, and sometimes it can create some special memories…

Feedback on Reddit from customers;

I've had no real issues with it keeping proper time. I tend to re-adjust all of my watches once a week and it's on par with my Tissot PRX. It was also a bit more expensive than my PRX but I can understand why. Way better lume, more comfortable bracelet and although both watches are 40mm. The DRZ04 wears smaller than the PRX (which I like)And yeah, when I saw, the design just spoke to me in a way other watches haven't yet. It was my first "had to have it" watch.

Summary

The whole point for me in getting a Micro brand watch is to have something different that stands out. That people will notice on my wrist and will have to start asking questions. The good old fashion conversation stimulator, 'what’s that?' I'd be curious to road test a Direnzo watch for my channel, if anyone reading this can help facilitate that then please do get in touch
