A Stay at Montage Laguna Beach Hotel & Spa: Too Short, But Absolutely Memorable

Recently, I had the pleasure of staying at the Montage Laguna Beach Hotel & Spa during my California trip with Volvo, where I reviewed the luxurious and ultra-safe Volvo EX90. I only stayed for one night, which, in hindsight, was far too short for such a breathtaking resort. Situated right on the coastline, Montage Laguna Beach offers direct beach access and an expansive promenade that's ideal for morning runs, peaceful walks, or just absorbing the serenity that surrounds you. Laguna Beach is often touted as one of the quieter gems of the California coast, and my visit absolutely confirmed this. The waves gently lapped the shore as I jogged along the path, and the tranquility of the setting was undeniable.

The hotel itself exudes luxury from the moment you step inside. It’s the type of place where time slows down, and every detail seems crafted to enhance relaxation. The service was impeccable throughout my short stay, but I must give a special mention to Barbara, the resort's fitness coach. She led us on a morning bootcamp session, and her vibrant personality made what could have been a gruelling workout into a fun and energising experience. Her approachability and enthusiasm really set the tone for the day.

And then there’s the spa – an absolute haven. I indulged in a treatment and left feeling rejuvenated, with every knot in my shoulders melted away. The combination of world-class facilities, expert therapists, and that calming ocean breeze makes the Montage’s spa a destination in itself. It’s the kind of place that not only relaxes your body but also resets your mind.

The culinary experience at Montage Laguna Beach is also worth noting. Even in my short stay, I had the opportunity to enjoy some of the finest meals, each prepared with incredible attention to detail and using the freshest local ingredients. The views from the dining areas are nothing short of spectacular, making every meal feel like a special occasion. Whether you're enjoying a morning coffee or indulging in a gourmet dinner, the ocean's presence adds an extra layer of tranquility. I can only imagine how wonderful it would be to stay longer and truly dive into the full range of their culinary offerings.

Finally, the resort's attention to detail is what truly sets it apart. From the warm greetings at check-in to the seamless coordination of every activity, it was clear that the staff takes immense pride in ensuring each guest feels at home. I was particularly impressed by how personalised the experience felt, despite the grandeur of the resort. It’s rare to find such a perfect balance between luxury and comfort, but Montage Laguna Beach has mastered it. Even though my stay was brief, it was the kind of experience that leaves a lasting impression, and I’ll definitely be back for a longer, more leisurely visit in the future.

Overall, my experience at Montage Laguna Beach was nothing short of exceptional. While I wish I could have stayed longer, it’s a resort I’ll certainly return to when I next find myself on the California coast.
