Mercure Aberdeen Ardoe Hotel & Spa Review | Stay Local UK
For my 2nd night of my 3 night trip to Scotland I stayed at the Mercure Aberdeen Ardoe Hotel & Spa. The journey from Inverness to Aberdeen took around 3 hours 30 minutes as we took the road through Cairngorms National Park, so of course I had to stop off many times for photos and to take in and admire the stunning countryside views. It really was a stunning drive, passing landmark after landmark from green hills, windy roads, old brick bridges and snow topped peaks.
When I first set eyes on the hotel it was like a medieval caste, enchanted and mysterious. I totally didn't expect the hotel to be so grand and in such incredible, large grounds due to only being a 10 minute drive into central Aberdeen. With prices from £60, it makes it the perfect hotel to stay in for business, pleasure or events such as weddings or birthdays.
The high ceiling reception area was decorated in dark wooden walls with Scottish memorabilia completing the interior design. The checkin was absolutely seamless by friendly local staff. We stayed in room 224 on the second floor and was incredibly quiet all day and night which was nice if you wanted a interruptible nights sleep.
The room was actually very modern which was a pleasant surprise considering the age of the building itself. Although I think my favourite area of the hotel was the lounge area, warm and cosy with an open fire and comfortable sofas made it a perfect place to read the morning paper, work or just relax.
The hotel consists of two bars and a dedicated restaurant and you can be served dinner in all of these locations, including the lounge area which I thought was quite unique and almost gave the hotel a feeling of being at home.
