The NEW White Dial Omega Speedmaster

James Bond and Omega fans got a much needed boost this week as it was announced that the NEW White Dial Omega Speedmaster has finally dropped. In an exclusive interview with Lorenzo Anselmo, founder of Omega Bond Watches, a channel that creatively engages with watch enthusiasts and Bond fans by visually and informationally discussing the entire collection of Omega watch models worn on screen by James Bond 007, we got the skinny on this new beauty. 

Lorenzo talk to me about the 'quiet release' of this new Omega? 

Well, it got teased last November in NYC at a live exhibit in the city and they did what people in the watch world call a 'quiet release'. Daniel Craig came in for an event and he wore this white dial watch. There were one or two pictures taken of him wearing it, everyone was like 'what’s that?' AND there was no information on it, the watch world had no definitive answer. Everyone just speculated 

And so it's dropped, what can you tell us about it? 

It's the same as the black Moonwatch only they've changed the dial to a white lacquer dial. It has black accents and red script on the Speedmaster logo and on the tip of the second hand. 

Why red? 

I've heard it's a nod to the commander portion of the space launch.

Are they doing a Hesalite version? 

No its only in sapphire they're not doing a Hesalite version which I was surprised by. I thought they'd do both. 

Will the NEW White Dial Omega Speedmaster be a limited release? 

No it's going to be a core product, part of their main line so it’s not going anywhere. It’s not limited edition. 

How do you think the James Bond community will react to this watch? 

I don't know. Its outside the realm of being a Seamaster. Bond has never worn a white Omega other than the chronograph vintage from Spectre. So it would be interesting to see Bond wear a watch white dial. It would be more in a dressy scene. I don't know if I'm going to buy it. I'm on the fence. I got my black Speedmaster and I thought I was checking a box. I need this for my collection, but I know in my heart I prefer Seamasters. I'm a diver guy. I've spent years collecting Seamasters, my passion lies there. 

How much? 

The sapphire original black is $8,00 this one is $8.100

Why is the white dial 100 dollars more?

I don't know, maybe Omega deemed they wanted 100 bucks more for it.
