On the occasion of the prestigious Grand Prix de Monaco Historique 2021 edition, TAG Heuer is releasing an exclusive limited edition of its iconic chronograph, the TAG Heuer Monaco Green Dial Calibre Heuer 02, in a new and elegant green colour.

I'm calling it now, Pantone will be naming green as their colour of the year for 2022. This year they went for the colour of caution in grey and yellow, which screams construction, hazard and high visibility vests. Yuk. This deep green is the colour of optimism; rolling fields, the yearning for outside space. If society can agree on anything it's that Mint is the best chocolate and it's the GREEN that lures us in. The emotional manipulation of green. For years it's just had bad press. The colour of superstition, the colour of poison ivy. But not anymore.

Anyway, this limited edition of 500 pieces TAG Heuer Monaco Green Dial is changing the narrative. I welcome you to spend a minute to hypnotised by this enchanting timepiece. TAG Heuer is also the Official Watch of the Formula One Monaco Grand Prix and the Official Watch Partner of the Monaco Top Cars Collection museum, confirming the enduring bond between TAG Heuer and the Principalities’ motorsport events.

As many of you know I'm a lover of the Grand Prix. Monaco is certainly one of the highlights of the season because of its unique locale. The volatility and the rich potential for a pile up on corner one. If you've ever had the pleasure of visiting Monaco you'll appreciate it's off-beat as much as it's opulent. The harbour has hills that run serpentine to some incredible restaurants. I remember eating black cod for 100 sheets. I recall being told to move along by security outside the Monte Carlo Casino. I tell you, if you're not rolling up in a DB5 ala Bond in GoldenEye wearing a Brioni peaked lapel dinner suit, no one is rolling out the red carpet for you.

Perhaps if I flashed one of these TAG Heuer Monaco Green Dial's then I would have been given access all areas. But what colour green is it exactly?

This never-seen-before dial tint in our iconic model introduces a fresh take on the TAG Heuer Monaco and highlights the unmistakable design features of the iconic square-cased steel watch. The dial gradient colour, from light green in the centre to dark green at the edge, conveys a sensation of speed. The green colour is also reminiscent of the famous covered portion of the Monaco Grand Prix track, preceding the chicane by the port.

Some details: the price was set at £5,500 but sold out on the day of its release. It is available in other colours, but let's just say the price of this particular limited edition has just gone up exponentially due to its exclusivity. In case you're wondering, no I didn't snare one. If it's not good enough for Pantone!
