Hitori Meguro GMT Aki Koyo - Red Dials Coming Back?
Today on my Microbrand watch wishlist I'm taking a salivating look over a watch from Hitori Watch company; the Hitori Meguro GMT Aki Koyo. It's a Japanese brand that can be purchased through the Gnoman Watch portfolio, and I'll link to that at the bottom.
The design approach is right up my alley. I'm a sucker for an interesting dial that you can't stop looking at. A dial and a bezel that almost transforms depending on the angle. This model comes with the Miyota 9075 GMT Automatic. I'm not however a fan of the Automatic being written on the bottom of the dial itself but I'll let that pass for now.
From watching the unboxing videos I can see that it comes nicely packaged in cardboard, and housed in a wooden box, with logos embroidered in the felt-lined inners.
The colour of the dial looks red on most of the photos, videos and website, but has a tinge of brown to it. Almost like a London Double Decker bus that's been in the sun too long. Although that in itself is something of an Oxymoron.
Are Microbrand watches reliable?
In my experience, yes. Although it's always better to find one that has a 3 year warranty. This one only comes with one year which is a little off putting. However, should you have any issues with your watch you should always look for the serial number of the watch that will be unique to your timepiece. Even if you lose your paperwork, that serial number will be logged with the reseller.
In this example the serial number can be found on the case back.
The Bezel:
The bezel itself is another huge allure for this watch. Other watches in this range also come with the two tone, and most have said they prefer the white and blue model, (the Fuyu White) however this is out of stock at the time of writing.
I'm actually more of a fan of this dusty red model. It elevates the bubbly textured dial face and pushes through that vibrant feel I like when looking at this watch. The lume is very prominent in all the photos I've seen, from the bezel and the applied markers.
The bracelet comes brushed on top with polished sides and tapered links. I wouldn't put this on a leather strap, the colour doesn't lend itself to it.
Some interesting specs:
● Diameter 39.2 mm
● Thickness 11.8mm
● Lug to lug 46.9mm
● Lug width 20mm
● Total weight 162g
Others think:
Those dimensions are fan-freaking-tastic. Agree, that white dial is just gorgeous. This colour makes me think of a dessert treat for some reason.
