Top 10 Men's Fragrances for Valentines Day 2023

You see that Mr Anderson? That is the sight of inevitability. A glib listicle of Top Fragrances to Buy Men on Valentine’s Day. I jest (in part) of course. This isn't a glib listicle, only a list of top men's fragrances that I personally own and recommend to all you folk that are looking to buy a perfect fragrance for your man on Valentine's Day. Well why beat around the bush, let's get to it.

Initio - Oud For Greatness

This is coming in top heavy at £285 for 90ml, however the bottle design alone will make this gift unique. If you like Oud on a man and want to treat him to something slightly different but luxurious, then this is the one. Very much a special occasion scent and a statement piece for his fragrance collection. Find notes in my previous blog post here. 

Juliette Has a Gun - Ego Stratis

The Musk and the Cedar underbelly, galvanises this fragrance and plants its feet perfectly in a very familiar barber shop genre. It reaches it's potential and then some, being one of my favourite releases from the brand. A perfect gift for Valentine's Day. £120 per 100ml at John Lewis. See my full review here. 

JO MALONE LONDON - English Pear & Freesia

The fragrance had a big launch back in September 2022. It had its own short film and everything. The scent itself lays the bed for the turning of the season, that in-descript moment when summer turns into autumn. We might be pushing into the depth of Winter now but it's still a relevant and experiential fragrance that your man will thank you for buying. Available on the Jo Malone London site and in stores. RRP 30ml £55 // 50ml £78 // 100ml £110. 

Coach - Open Road

There is a lot of vibrancy that kicks in with the lavender, and it somehow strangles the lemon notes that I was hoping would kick on further. That said I have grown to love this scent since first reviewing it back in August 2022. It is certainly a grower and something that will play well all year round, and a bargain for £30 at the Fragrance Shop. 

Mizensir - Eau de Gingembre

Eau de Gingembre by Mizensir crystallises everything I love about the warmer months. My lust for sun, the evocation of citrus orchards, the wanton escape surfing on sunsets that reach far into the evenings. This fragrance will transport your man over to the laptop where he will book a weekend retreat in the Caribbean. Taking you obviously.  £185.00 for 100ml. 

Salvatore Ferragamo - Bright Leather

One of the things that I love about the scent was how it unravelled. The notes untangled very interestingly although not in the way I expected. It's a very layered and complex arrangement, something I'm more conditioned to with higher end leather fragrances such as TOM FORD Ombre Leather. A solid purchase at around £54. 

PARFUMS DE MARLY - HALTANE

A great all-rounder. I can wear this to the meetings, events and date nights. If I were a single pringle I perhaps wouldn't wear this on a first date as you never know if your partner has a thing about Oud. HALTANE RRP: £295/ 125 ml 

Bjork & Berries - Botanist

The freshness is captured and I can get the apple hit straight away. I've not experienced much cassis before so it has a very foreign flavour on the nose. It's pleasant, it's familiar and at the same time, a little bit crazy. If I had an editor’s pick for Unusual Valentine's Gifts for him, this would be it. See my full review here. 

Atelier Materi - ROSE ARDOISE

You will get a spicy fresh, oceanic push when you first pump the scent. It will then lean into an earthy dry down where the Rose reveals itself at the heart of the scent. I reviewed this back in May 2022 for the blog and love returning to this scent now and then when I want something different from my day. Available in Harvey Nichols, Harrods & Liberty London priced £195 for 100ml. 

BDK PARFUMS - Gris Charnel extrait

At the top, the green and fruits accents of fig and the vibrancy of cardamom is amplified. The base notes of smoked vanilla and patchouli and the creamy sandalwood of India are magnified in a more voluminous extract. A subtle reminder that Bourbon vetiver of Madagascar is at the heart, everything combined makes this fragrance addictive. £220 100ml
