Jo Malone London English Pear & Freesia Special Editions

Today I'm going to talk about the English Pear & Freesia fragrance by Jo Malone London. The face of the campaign is Adwoa Aboah, and this is the very first time that Jo Malone London has had their Global Ambassador appear as the face of a campaign. A woman dear to my heart as she is and the brand Jo Malone campaign tirelessly for Mental Health awareness. Plus I have a thing for freckles.

That Adwoa should feel ‘seriously aligned’ with the brand should come as no surprise; Jo Malone London has been championing and building awareness around mental health issues for many years, long before it became topical and Adwoa, following her own struggles with her mental health, is the founder of Gurls Talk, which she describes as ‘a community-led organisation dedicated to the mental health and well-being of women and young girls globally’.

The English Pear & Freesia release feels like a real push by Jo Malone London. They have thrown quite a bit at this fragrance. Not every release gets its own promotional film. Which is an enchanting. Adwoa climbs a ladder to the top of a cloud. There are echoes of Phileas J. Fogg with dustings of 60s psychedelia. You can watch the film here. 

And the fragrance itself lays the bed for the turning of the season, that indescript moment when summer turns into autumn.

The image of fruit trees laden with juicy, just-ripe pears, and also by the great English poet John Keats’ famous poem, To Autumn, which talks about ripe fruit and flowers at this magical and whimsical point of the year. The sensuous freshness of just-ripe pears wrapped in a bouquet of bright white freesias, their unmistakeable blooms radiating innocence and a delicate, cool touch. He was a clever fellow wasn't he? 

Mellowed by amber, patchouli and woods.
