THE BAFTAS TV AWARDS 2022: Men's Red Carpet Outfits
Did anyone tune into the BAFTA TV AWARDS the other night? Great to see Formula 1 winning the Sport category. It didn't go the way I wanted but it was an unforgettable showdown and the coverage was incredible. But let's get to the main story shall we? Who wore what on the red carpet. Here are some of the runners and riders from the red carpet that caught my eye.
Ncuti Gatwa
Superstar and the new Doctor Who, Ncuti Gatwa glowed last night in a tasselled skirt, sandals, large keyhole tunic with satin trims. Orange Culture SS22 styled by Felicity Kay. There are some out there designs on the Orange Culture site, however couldn't find this one in stock. From the about me page on their site it talks about the CO and designer, Adebayo Oke-Lawal.
He started Orange Culture in 2011, after having worked with several Nigerian designers, to turn his unique vision of fashion into reality. Adebayo insists. It is a “movement” that covers universal silhouettes with an African touch to a creative class of men, translating into a heady mixture of Nigerian inspired print fabrics, colour and contemporary urban street wear.
Martin Freeman
Yet to have any confirmation on who dressed Martin Freeman in his Shawl Lapel dinner jacket. Possibly Mark Powell Bespoke who is normal go-to. Thought he not normally a tailor associated with red carpet attire. Though his glasses are what grabbed me. They look to be a silver - coloured brown unisex pair from Montblanc. Currently available for £297 at Zalando. Not confirmed. What is confirmed are his grooming credits. Joe Mills for hair using Benny Hancock grooming products.
David Carlyle
Men's stylist Gareth Scourfield took David’s Scottish heritage as their outfit inspiration with the lightweight wool black watch tartan kilt, gave the green light on the velvet Nehru jacket & added a touch of 1980’s camp with the colourful crystal jewellery. The Mr Porter Jacket was furnished by Unicorn, Spider & Skull butterfly head brooches by Butterfly and Wilson. The Kilt, evening Sporran (who knew they existed?), socks & flashes all sourced at Highland Store Holborn. The Black Joel lace up shoes by Grenson finished the look. This is a great modern twist on the Scottish Highland dress and should be considered for anyone looking to be creative with Scottish weddings.
Owain Wyn Evans
The little Welsh Drummer boy looked electric in his honey combed sequin gown and vintage nehru shirt. The shirt was a staple picked from Terra Vintage Clothing. I love the reaction from the shop on his Instagram,
Ahhhh you look absolutely fabulous. LOVE your shirt with the sequin suit. Can’t believe a shirt from my wee shop made it to the BAFTAs! I’ll be smiling all day! Would you mind if I shared some of your photos on my feed? Thanks so much Owain! Hope you had a wonderful evening!
It's certainly not a look that I could have the guts to carry off, but he is owning it and God love him for it.
Giovanni Pernice
Saving the best till last here. Giovanni Pernice pictured with his Strictly Come Dancing Co-Star Rose Ayling Ellis looked amazing at the TV Baftas. Image consultant Natalie Care styled Giovanni in a Hawes and Curtis Velvet midnight blue dinner jacket with shawl lapels. The bracelet is by TateOssian, one of my favourite men's accessories brand.
