Crikey it seems like yesterday that we actually looked forward to episodes of TV shows. Set your clock to a Tuesday night at 9pm in the Thompson household, because it was Quantum Leap without fail. Ok so maybe it was circa 30 years ago and not yesterday, but I stand by Quantum Leap being some of the best television of its day. A-Team, Knight Rider, and Columbo, would all later be guilty pleasures that would keep me company on days hungover on the couch.

Now we don't have to wait 20 seconds before catching the next episode, the next show, the next podcast about the last show and so on. These are the salad days not only for great TV, but to learn some how to channel your own style by riffing on some of the great shows and films just a click away on streaming right now. Here for you are some of the ones that I'm watching or have just finished.

GQ have recently published an article on the Ten essential films to inspire your heatwave wardrobe and rightly list The Talented Mr Ripley at the top. The film is replete with vintage polos, linen jackets and high waisted tailored trousers. As was the style in the early 60s. I recommend this film as both an inspiration for a summer wardrobe and a wistful slice of escapism to Southern Italy. Remember no corduroy in Italy.

Once Upon A Time in Hollywood. For me this is one of the best films from Tarantino since Pulp Fiction. From the vintage Champion Tee as seen on Cliff Booth played by Brad Pitt, to the rose tinted aviators worn by Rick Dalton played by Leonardo Di Caprio. Despite some costumes looking undeniably 60s, (wait until you get to Polanski's Austin Powers Velvet blue suit) some have an aching timeless appeal that will get you Googling old school collections. Some brands have not revived sadly. Available on Netflix.

Hannibal. Single handily revived the chequered suits in 2013, it's now had a lease of life since it's been released on the more accessible Amazon Prime. Mads Mikkelsen delivers a carefully nuanced yet terrifyingly threatening performance as Dr. Hannibal Lecter, whilst his suits from Garrison Bespoke cut an even sharper silhouette than his steak knives.

The Game. The king of the psychological thrillers during the 90s, other than Scott Bakula, was Michael Douglas. He offered something different to the brawn of Willis, Stallone and Schwarzenegger. What he lacked in physique he made up for in class and attitude. His role as a dispassionate misanthropic billionaire in The Game comes with all the trappings of wealth. His steely grey glen check suit is timeless and seen through large chunks of the movie. Available on Netflix.

The Wolf of Wall Street. From the Ivy League look to the power suit, there are no fashion faux pas' throughout this Scorsese blockbuster. Perhaps with the exception of the poor chap that gets his goldfish swollen and highlighted for wearing a bow tie to the office. The Ralph Lauren polos and the pin stripe Armani suits are as much a lure and deliver as much impact as the McConaughey chest thumb chant.
