The Scottish Fine Soaps Company Facial Wash Review

The Scottish Fine Soaps Company Facial Wash Review

Today I'm going to highlight my latest purchase of grooming products, the Eucalyptus & Mint Facial Wash and Sandalwood & Musk Facial Wash by The Scottish Fine Soaps Company.

I know the biggest question on your lips, is it actually a Scottish Company and if so, how come they don't have Gerard Butler as their brand ambassador. Simple answer to the latter, I don't know. To the former, Scottish Fine Soaps create, design, make and package 99.5% of their products at their factory near the Ochil Hills in Stirlingshire.

They've been blending gorgeous ingredients with contemporary Scottish style since 1974. As well as Facial Wash their collections range , from the iconic best-selling Au Lait range, made with creamy organic milk, to their mineral-rich Sea Kelp collection.

I love that their products contain no Parabens or Microbeads. They are continually evolving their formulations and packaging to ensure they are as sustainable and as kind to the environment as possible, e.g. 100% recycled and recyclable plastic bottles. Lastly they DO NOT test on animals. So many great boxes ticked there.

Other flankers in the range consist of Cedarwood and Amber and Thistle and Black Pepper. Sometimes I do wonder if it's just all in a name.

The sleek, masculine packaging makes it an excellent addition to any gentleman's bathroom counter.

Let's start with the Eucalyptus & Mint. The smell is very fresh and sweet, but not overly saccharin. Or saccharin at all really. It's like being given a cup of coffee with just a tiny amount of cinnamon in it and being pleasantly surprised although you specifically requested 'NO CINNAMON'. I'm a sucker for mint so I'm glad to get that fresh tang of mint on my chops. It tickles ever so slightly but is warm in others. It transports me to a place where I would hike alone on the banks along the Norfolk Broads. It has that sense of familiarity, that whiff of nostalgia,
that air of self belief.

The Sandalwood & Musk is an entirely new experience all together. The Musk anchors the scent profile, but the Sandalwood is allowed to flirt dangerously. It's more grounded than the other wash, and somehow it's more untethered. There is more of a voyage with this one. A journey to the centre of the earth, unpacking the forgotten boxes in the corner of your mind and heart. Like that time you went round to your friend's house whose Dad lived on a farm, and got to play cowboys and Indians in the barn. That's it, it's campfires. It's teenage slumber parties. Somehow this facial wash acts like the skeleton key to all those wild nights before you discovered whisky.

Perfect gifting, looks great on the shelf, and left my face feeling incredibly invigorated.
