MELBOURNE WATCH COMPANY: The Most Affordable Dress Watch Out there
Looking further afield today for my Microbrand watch recommendation. Today I stumbled upon the Melbourne Watch Company are an Australian watch company that was founded in 2013.
What grabbed my eye were the elegant features such as traditional guilloché patterning and multi-layered ceramic dials. Something that can be worn for the most formal occasions, yet that comes with a price point that will fall under everyday wear too.
Melbourne Watch Company achieved notoriety within the watch community with the launch of their Portsea triple calendar models. Based around the high beat 9122 movement, their sapphire glass and 100 meter water rating puts them in the same category as a dive watch. However, you'd never know that just by looking at such exquisite timepieces.

Today I have my eye on the Melbourne Burnley Watch. Available on their website currently at £462. The design characteristics if you familiar with higher end watches you're going to be familiar with some of the design cues. This one is in the affordable category. Its good value, I love the finishing and the integrated bracelet.
And when you do integrated lugs you want to have a long span to make it more comfortable on the wrist. It’s a very thin watch at 10.3mm thick from the case back to the top of the flat sapphire crystal. The bracelet matches the case perfect and tapers down elegantly.
The butterfly clasp, a must for H-link and integrated bracelets. It works naturally with this one. A fold over clasp wouldn't seem normal. You just have to wear it a little looser on the wrist to allow easier on-off access.
The 9015 Miyota is a hand wind. It has a beautiful green dial, nicely polished applied indices. The main cons I've heard about online is that there is only a little bit of lume. To the naked eye the lume isn't the best. But it's not a deal breaker for me on a watch of this nature.
The bezel beneath the case is not round. It's a softened hexagon shape which I'm sure is purposeful and it adds more dimensionality to the watch. The finishing is beyond the price tag. The overall construction is top notch.
Feedback from the Random Rob YouTube video:
I got the blue dial during a sale last month, quickly has become my favourite watch! Look and feel are premium quality and I found the Miyota was no noisier than my NH35 powered watches. Highly recommend!
