Clarins New Shaving Routine Products: Reviewed
What’s in the Clarins Men Shave & Beard Collection?
Clarins Men Shave and Beard Oil: This keeps facial hair nourished and soft, but it can also be used as a pre-shaving oil – tugging and pulling will be a thing of the past.
Clarins Men Smooth Shave Foaming Gel: The soft, creamy shaving foam assists a close, comfortable shave by softening facial hair whilst protecting against the risk of cuts and nicks.
Clarins Men After Shave Soothing Toner: A soothing facial toner that instantly calms sensations of overheating, exfoliates dead skin cells, releases ingrown hairs and reduces pores for a matte, healthy finish.
Clarins Men After Shave Soothing Gel: A fresh, non-greasy post-shave gel to soothe skin and reduce irritability. You don’t have to miss out if you have a beard, though. The multipurpose formula revitalises the beard and softens facial hair, too.
Thoughts and feelings
I want to be clean and have a straight cut, no fuss no nicks. Clarins has always worked for me in skin care. It keeps a consistent look, and the scent is always soothing, very fresh. It foams up nicely and quickly.
Fluffs up the beard. Not too oily, non-sticky. Skin absorbed it well. I want a bit of rejuvenation in the shave as so often the skin can feel dry afterwards. My skin is left smooth and I did feel like I was pampered after using it. The smell is the best, an aroma that is unique to Clarins. I'm not sure how they get it just right.
The texture is great. And the bottles look good in the bathroom. It's important that, the packaging. Basically they are representing your lifestyle and so many times packaging can look uber plastic-y and cheap. These don't.
It prevent razor burns which is a big disadvantage when shaving regularly. There is a time element also. Having to always reapply the soap or foam can be a real time sink. But this is one time application gel and I'm off. The toner soothed my skin also and I was good to go. The complete set really gives me the ultimate kit.
Tips from the pros
I learned a lot from the Clarins shaving video on YouTube and I recommend it to everyone serious about starting a decent grooming regime. Doing longer strokes and not chipping away at the beard makes it easier. Which can be hard because depending on where your beard grows and where the roll is. But I had a comfortable and easy shave with no irritation. Having a razor that has a heavy handle is key. The handle is doing most of the work and using a shaving brush is the best. This props the bristles away from the skin. After the shower or under the shower is best, the heat will help you get a smoother shave.
As you can see I have a bit of growth already so I don't go all out. The lotion and the gel are both calming cooling and soothing. It’s a splash on so it’s a quick fix.
The after shaving gel has the texture that has a little more hydration. So it will replenish the skin easier. Cools and gets rid of fine nicks and seals in the pours.
