NORDGREEN WATCHES: THE TRUE DEFINITION OF SCANDI DESIGN

Danish Watch brand Nordgreen have been on my radar for some time. Their sublime, thin watches are a true to testament to Scandinavian minimalism. Nordgreen are a sustainable brand that are every bit the sum of their parts; a watch company that cares about the community and environment.

THE BRAND

Nordgreen, founded by two young Danish entrepreneurs, Pascar Sivam and Vasilij Brandt, otherwise known as Pas and Vas.

The motivation to make a change, bringing the iconic design to the everyday people, and their passion for watches led them to create an affordable range of minimalist watches which most people can get their hands on.

Pas and Vas enlisted the skills of designer Jakob Wagner from early doors to bring their vision to life. 

As Nordgreen's Chief Designer, Jakob is well-acclaimed for designing collections for major brands such as Bang & Olufsen, Hay, B&B Italia, and Cappellini. Red Dot Award in Product Design 2020.

The results are the machinations of Jakob's invaluable experience and true indefatigable passion for Scandinavian design.

The ethos of the company has sort of moral compass that you only see in Tom Hanks movies. Their values are representative of those that are carried by the people of Scandinavia. THE WATCHES

The range is made up of three models; The Philosopher, The Native, and The Infinity. They each share a stainless-steel case, a Japanese quartz movement, and are made by hand. I've opted for the Philosopher in Black Leather because I believe it exudes that deft-stripped back look I crave in minimalist watches. 

You can also choose rose gold, gold and silver colourways, with The Philosopher also having a Gun Metal option.
