AW20 MENSWEAR TRENDS | THE CHELSEA BOOT
Autumn and winter are the months to wear boots, trainers are just not as durable for all weather conditions that autumn and in particular winter brings. Today I’m going to be talking about the men’s Chelsea boot, which is one of my favourite ever styles. Dr Marten are on top of this trend and have a huge range to choose from which is why I’ve chosen them as a feature for this post.
The pair that I’m wearing in the styled image above are the 2976 ALYSON WINTERGRIP Chelsea boot with a faux inner fur lining. The brown leather is in a medium dark hue with a black sole. What differentiates this pair is the faux fur inner lining which gives the boots an extremely comfortable fit and the zipper which is a different take on the traditional Chelsea boot.
Chelsea boots are alternatively known as Dealer boots although that is not really a term that is used by the UK’s retailers, so if you are searching for these type of boots, use the search term Chelsea boots and you’ll get a larger selection. They are close-fitting and approximately ankle-high boots with an elastic side panel. Some newer designs will replace that elastic side panel with other materials such as zips. They often have a loop or tab of fabric on the back of the boot which is very much Dr Martens style, enabling the boot to be pulled on. The Chelsea boot dates back to the Victorian era, when it was worn by both men and women and that unisex trend is one that continues to date.
