TOM FORD BITTER PEACH | FRAGRANCE REVIEW

Tom Ford Beauty have brought out their latest highly anticipated fragrance Bitter Peach into their Private Blend portfolio, but what is it like? It’s classified as a fruity floral fragrance which immediately says to me that this fragrance is more feminine, although when you look deeper into the notes and test the dry down of the fragrance, you soon realise that it is very much in the unisex bracket.

• Top notes: Pêche de Vigne Accord, Sicilian Blood Orange Oil, Cardamom Oil.

• Heart notes: Heliotrope, Davana Oil, Rum Absolute, Cognac Oil, Jasmin Absolute Sambac.

• Base notes: Sandalwood New Caledonia, Benzoin Resinoid, Cashmeran, Vanilla, Tonka Bean Absolute, Labdanum Absolute, Styrax Resinoid, Indonesian Patchouli.

The fragrance certainly opens up very fruity as you would expect from the name and the top notes, the Peche de Vigne combined with the Blood Orange combine perfectly to give the opening hit of peach. After about 15-20 minutes on my skin, I started to get into the heart notes and certainly the Davana oil is present. Davana oil has a sweet, warm, exotic scent with fruity tones and a hint of wood. Then the base notes are very much types of notes that I wear a lot, which are less floral and more woody and warm. Vanilla, Sandalwood and Tonka Bean are 3 of my favourite notes in this fragrance.

After wearing this for a full day, I got about 8 hours sillage but it eased off from about 4 hours. So that is pretty good for an eau de parfum. Although I think that’s because the notes are fruity and floral, the sillage was not projecting off my skin as much as say a Tuscan Leather or Noir de Noir, which have more intense notes. Bitter Peach is more refined, subtle and discrete.

I would certainly wear this for a special occasion but for the price point I wouldn’t put this in the daily or work fragrance bracket, unless you have a meeting where you want to invoke conversation “What’s that you’re wearing…?”
