The Top Black Tie Scents | Men's Fragrances
When the invite says Black Tie, you need to adopt a fragrance that will complement the smartest dress code known to man. You'll be looking for an extra thrust that will catapult you down that red carpet, or put you on the proverbial pedestal when in the humdrum of mingle mode.
Creed Aventus
When I go black tie I look for something masculine, something smooth with a rich edge. It needs to evoke luxury, it needs to smell aspirational.
The Creed Aventus has all those in spades. Top notes of pineapple, blackcurrant, apple and bergamot. The heart notes are a deep, heady combination of peppery rose, birch, jasmine and patchouli. Its base is oakmoss and ambergris.
L'Homme Prada Intense
I know people have worn this and have had huge compliments. I've even smelled this fragrance on others and it's gotten my attention. It's more dressed up than the original and I think this is a perfect scent for any award show or fancy press event.
Dior Sauvage
Earthy, wild and mysterious and that's just the way I like my men. Wait. What? Sorry that's a speech for a different website. It has an incredible woody trail. It has a very rugged and raw vibe. It almost reeks of classic Americana.
Tom Ford Black Orchid
I know there are a lot of Tom Ford fragrances that could have slid into this top 5. It was a toss-up between this and Tuscan Leather for me. However, the Black Orchid goes under the Black Tie radar for me.
It's perhaps not as potent as Tuscan Leather or Tobacco Oud, but it's got a little mystery to it. It's not as commonly worn in my experience so people will be more intrigued with Black Orchid.
Alexandria Fragrances - Black Tie Affair
It has Black Tie in the title. It has a magnetic lure. There is some ambergris in it so you might get some nostalgic Creed waves. It's just a real spicy liquid that isn't over powering. It has some black pepper which I love and overall it's very sophisticated which is really the definition of Black Tie.
