Green & Black’s Velvet Edition | So Smooth Tasting it’s Criminal

I'm delighted to be talking about Green & Black’s Velvet Edition chocolate today. While I'm a huge fan of Green & Black’s, I might be slightly late to the party as Velvet Edition was released back in 2017.

When I was young with an un-tuned palette, I thought it was milk chocolate all the way. I was even addicted to Coco Pops.

But nowadays I'm a little wiser, and a bit more conscious of what I'm putting in my body, and so it's dark chocolate all the way for me. I've heard that dark chocolate is also brain food. One of the benefits of dark chocolate is that it allows blood to flow to your brain easier. Great news, right?

Green & Black’s Velvet Edition is smoother and less bitter than its contemporaries – an ‘entry level’ dark chocolate, some might say.

With a variety of seven signature flavours – my favourites being Mint, Salted Caramel and Orange & Almond, each of which are tied for first place – there is something for everyone. The range is available in all major supermarkets at an RRP of £2, and each flavour is made using Green & Black’s delicious, super smooth tasting 70% dark chocolate.  

  • 70% Cocoa – the rich taste of dark chocolate, exceptionally smooth in flavour

  • Roasted Almond – made with the highest quality Mediterranean almonds, roasted with their skins on for an even more delicious flavour

  • Raspberry & Hazelnut – pieces of raspberry and chopped hazelnuts. The zingy raspberries cut through the delicate chocolate and perfectly complement the rich roasted hazelnuts

  • Salted Caramel – pieces of Yorkshire caramel infused with flakes of Anglesey Sea Salt, culminating in a delicate crunch and a truly moreish taste

  • Sea Salt – delicate flakes of Anglesey Sea Salt. As each flake hits the tongue, it offers a delicious contrast to the sweet chocolate

  • Orange & Almond – mouth-watering Sicilian blood orange oil and crunchy chopped almonds

  • Mint – made with Indian Peppermint oil, delivering a refreshing mint flavour which complements the decedent chocolate
