I've been lucky enough to drive in many luxury cars in my time. The trip to Nice to drive both the BMW i8 Coupe and the Roadster really sticks out in my mind. Those press trips don't come around every day. I wanted to assemble a list of luxury cars that would suit the under 40s, that would also come at an accessible price point. The best luxury car for a young person will depend on their preferences, budget, and lifestyle. Here are a few options to consider:

In terms of handling, the latest A3 remains surprisingly composed during cornering, although the steering doesn't provide quite as much feedback as the Mercedes-Benz A-Class. This will suit the majority of buyers, though - it's an easy car to drive and good visibility helps around town. It's compact, stylish, and offers a good blend of luxury and performance. 

2. BMW 2 Series: I'm with the AutoExpress on this one. The BMW 2 Series Coupe offers plenty of driving fun, along with a surprising level of practicality, while its muscular styling gives it a real presence on the road. 4. Lexus UX: I'm with Top gear on this one. It otherwise drives reasonably well – it's got a good ride, soaking up bumps, and it fits well with the more relaxed nature of the hybrid set-up. A compact luxury SUV with a youthful design and good tech features. Amazing top-end features compared to standard vehicles. 

5. Genesis G70: I'm with Car and Driver on this one. Highs Svelte, dynamic lines, gorgeous cabin, lively performance with either engine, top 365-hp version is a great value. A sporty and stylish option with a strong value proposition. The premium materials in the interior come as standard. 

6. Acura ILX: I'm with Edmunds on this. The styling is great, and the fit and finish is quality. It's a very solid feeling car and mine has absolutely no squeaks or rattles. Offers a balance of luxury and affordability, making it a good choice for younger buyers. It has a focus on providing a luxurious driving experience

7. Volvo XC40: I'm with Car Buyer on this one. The Volvo XC40 has also proved itself to be safe, thanks to a five-star Euro NCAP test rating, and popular with owners. A small luxury SUV with a modern, youthful design and a focus on safety. The feature cutting-edge safety and entertainment systems on this are a standout. 

8. Tesla Model 3: I'm with Electrifying on this one. The game-changing Tesla Model 3 remains not just Tesla's most affordable car, but its most impressive one too. An electric car with cutting-edge technology and a modern appeal, popular among tech-savvy younger buyers. The advanced suspension allows for a smooth ride
