Eau de Gingembre by Mizensir | Fragrance Review
Today I'm going to share some quick thoughts on my brand new summer Eau de Gingembre by Mizensir, a fragrance for women and men. Yes I know this isn't a brand new release, (it was launched in 2015) but it is new to my collection and a mini-revelation in a way.
The bottle is clear, square shoulders, silver cap and label. Fairly generic in truth but still elegant and non-offensive. The nose behind this fragrance is Alberto Morillas.
NOTES:
Top notes are Ginger, Calabrian bergamot, Tunisian Neroli and Petitgrain
Middle notes are Cypress and Fig
Base note is White Woods.
OPENING
What I love about Eau de Gingembre by Mizensir is how it crystallises everything I love about the warmer months. My lust for sun, the evocation of citrus orchards, the wanton escape surfing on sunsets that reach far into the evenings. Ok maybe that's taking things a bit far. However, with this being one of the hottest summers on record I have craved for a light fragrance that projects and smells bright, healthy and doesn't invade or pervade when subjected to the humidity.
Of course there is an assault of ginger on the nose. And the kind of ginger that I shred and mix with lemon gratings for detox teas. Most people I have spoken to about this have expressed the opposite kind of ginger. More processed or chemical. But for me it's very kitchen ginger which I much prefer. There is a quality to the ginger and that's what stands out for me. As this is a note that frames the entire fragrance it was important that Alberto got it right and fused it well with the Neroli and the Fig. Luckily he has and the result is very rewarding.
DRYDOWN
The fig comes into play after the scent settles and it dovetails nicely from the ginger. I didn't get much wood on the drydown so it feels very open ended. I would have preferred more prominence with the base note to ground the fragrance. Although Tuula picked up more on the woodsy notes when she wore it.
SUMMARY
This is a hit for summer. There is always a place for spicy fragrances on my shelf but I much prefer to dip into those in the cooler months. Also with the ginger it does give me an alternative to wear in the summer as opposed to aqua fragrances or your more common citrusy or uber-green fragrances. It could do with lasting a little longer, I only got 5 hours which is frustrating if I want to be out in the morning and smell good for late afternoon appointments. But still, a minor gripe.
I loved this, well worth the money and a perfect him/her scent for Summer.
