6 Hamilton Place Restaurant | Food Review
Today I'm going to share some thoughts on my recent trip to 6 Hamilton Place, Mayfair’s newest restaurant and event venue in the heart of Mayfair. Their executive chefs, with a wealth of high-end culinary experience, have curated an exquisite menu. Or at least, that's what the brochure says. It also brags about the Hollywood Icons such as Clark Gable and Gene Kelly that have frequented the illustrious building in its former incarnations. The Grade II-listed property was subsequently renovated in the early 1990s to update the building whilst maintaining the luxurious interior. Fast forward to today, 6 Hamilton Place provides the idyllic setting with decadent interiors fit for every occasion. It offers a unique dining experience in Mayfair, allowing guests to indulge in three different cuisines; European, Middle Eastern and authentic Chinese Cuisine (Sichuan, North East and Cantonese).
Tuula and I sauntered down there on a Friday night at about 7:30pm. Peak time for most restaurants. The venue was very regal, elegant and the staff were genuine. Their smiles started from their hearts and worked their way upwards.
We sat down, and thankfully no one told us that we needed to be done, chop-chop style by a certain cut off. It's a real bug bear of mine when the staff tell you about their turnaround times. I get it, you're busy, I don't need to feel like I'm on the clock here.
What I also really appreciated was how well informed our waiter was. He confidently and enthusiastically walked us through the entire menu and got granular with the ingredients, even weaving in his preferences from having tried all the dishes himself.
We exploited the opportunity to try 3 different cuisines. This included the Himalayan salt dried sirloin steak alongside dishes like salt and pepper prawns, Szechuan chicken and Lamb Kafta. The meals were elegantly presented and we followed that up with a bottle of Cahors, Clos du Colombier, Malbec from France. Admittedly the wine choice could have been slightly tricky to navigate as we were eating both fish and steak, but the sommelier held our hand and he pulled it out the bag. We left about 11pm feeling entirely satiated, extremely pleased with the value of money versus how incredible the food was.
