6 of the Best Mother’s Day Gift Ideas 2022
Ahhh the inevitable Mother's Day Gift Ideas Listicle. They should really change that old adage. Few certainties in life other than Death and Taxes oh and bloggers doing Mother's Day Gift Ideas. Yes flowers, yes chocolates, I'll get to those. But how about something slightly different like an experience, a getaway retreat down the Cotswolds? Or maybe just being present instead of doom-scrolling through your instagram feed.
Let's dive in.
ONE. Say it with flowers from your family run florists. You may remember I compiled a listicle of family run florists for a Valentine's Day feature. It's as important to your Mum that you supported her local community with flowers bought close-by. Chances are she'll know the owners, and it will please her to know you've supported them.
TWO. Perfume. For Mother's Day you want to make sure the presentation is as good as the present itself. With that in mind I would try and abstain from buying-blind from Amazon and shipping direct. I would invest in a Jo Malone London fragrance and you can check out a slew of scent's I've reviewed on my blog. The one I'd recommend is their latest release from their Blossoms collection, A Sardinian Summer. The new Blossoms collection comes equipped with two limited-edition scents encapsulating an Italian summer: Inspired by a chance discovery along the coast, Sea Daffodil is a solar floral fragrance, radiant with ylang ylang and rooted in warm vanilla entwined with creamy sandalwood.
THREE. A trip to the Crucible. Now stay with me on this. I'm guessing it's the Dad that loves the Snooker, but wouldn't it be a good idea to team up with Dad and siblings on this one and organise a weekend away with Mum to watch some of the World Championship Snooker played in Sheffield this April. Tickets are still available, hotels are getting booked up fast so get in quick. Sheffield is a rich historic city in the UK, peppered with Museums, Cathedrals and of course a tram! (Note to self) I might even have to share some notes soon on things to do and see in Sheffield. Stay tuned.
FOUR. Scrapbooking. Oh boy, don't get involved with this one unless you have several hours to kill. But if you do, and you do it right, it could bring the house down on Mother's Day. Scrapbooking is either a lost art. We are all slaves to nostalgia, and anyone that collected Panini Stickers back in the day and filled albums with football teams and players, can attest to the irrepressible allure of sticking things into albums. Albeit photos, stickers, leaflets, stamps etc. Your Mum would surely appreciate the time spent filling out a scrapbook of some of her dearest memories. Scan through her old photos, even print out some on your phone she's never seen. I watched this video online for ideas and inspirations on scrapbooking.
FIVE. Spa Day. Nothing says go spend my money and drink white fizz like a Spa Treatment day. Luckily I've pulled together a listicle previously on the best Spa Treatment centres in London. Enjoy.
SIX. A pet. I know, a bit out there, but hear me out. I can tell you that having a pet in the house is a great stress reliever. We somehow manage to imprint all our aspirations, dreams and personality traits on our furry friends. We humanise them in a way and they become part of the family. If nothing else it gives you something to chat about at the next Jaguar Members Only bi-monthly meet up. Yes Tuula and I have French Bulldogs, but I would recommend a ubiquitous Cockapoo for Mum. They are less maintenance. They don't moult, they are great around kids and have an infectious dopey-cute look about them. Breeders I recommend (through a Cockapoo owner) are Prestige Cockapoo. Maybe your Mum might be a cat-lover to which I suggest a Blue Russian. They are mini demons for the first couple of weeks as a kitten, but are very gregarious, sociable and don't generally claw through the furniture. Recommended breeder (through a Russian Blue owner) Silver Moon Russian Blue.
