From BUCHERER with love | MY GIFTING WISHLIST FOR HIM & HER
Today I want to share with you my gifting wishlist from Bucherer inspired by my private consultation I had at their recently re-opened store in Covent Garden.
Yes, Valentine's Day is round the corner, but I'm putting this list together as a wish that someday (any day) Tuula might present a gift for me across the dinner table. Although this is not just a gift wishlist for Valentine’s Day but also for birthdays or how about your next anniversary.
For now, let me show you the watches that made the list for me. Some are also gifting ideas for her.
TUDOR Black Bay Bronze Bucherer BLUE
I'm particularly charmed with many of the Men’s Watches from the Bucherer Blue timepiece selection. In which you'll find this TUDOR Black Bay Bronze Bucherer BLUE. This would be the cherry (or would that be Blueberry?) on top of my budding TUDOR collection. The bronze strip down the centre of the fabric strap gives it a sublime symmetry.
The rest is pure deft simplicity fused with quality craftsmanship. I love also how this timepiece will grow with you and become an extension of your personality. The metal changes its appearance over time. As a result, each case develops a subtle and unique patina that reflects the wearer's habits.
IWC SCHAFFHAUSEN Portugieser Chronograph Classic 42mm
Post-lockdown living has highlighted the benefits of virtual gift shopping, and we are all by now accustomed to acquiring many of our worldly goods online. However, Bucherer believe that in-store shopping experiences are still invaluable when carefully selecting jewellery and luxury watches to spark delight, even when treating oneself to luxury. I happen to concur, especially when procuring those higher ticket items.
This IWC Schaffhausen, Bucherer BLUE, Portugieser, really does have to be seen in the flesh. It's limited to 88 pieces and would be the standout in any man's collection. Hopefully mine someday.
CARL F. BUCHERER Manero Peripheral
And one from their own stable. This CARL F. BUCHERER Manero Peripheral is elegant and with a dusting of menace to it. I do enjoy a watch with the date at the 3, and the dual point at the 12 is both esoteric and alluring. It has the city marker LUCERNE across the centre which is also a nice touch to those that are familiar with both city and brand.
CHOPARD Happy Sport
This one is for her, clearly. When I showed the online collection to Tuula she picked out the CHOPARD Happy Sport in a heartbeat. In store this watch comes alive. The light interacts with the silver dial and it's quite mesmerising. It's like staring into the medusa of dial faces. An abyss that stares back as the poets might say. Naturally if I ever get to gift this beauty, I'll think of something more eloquent to say.
It's probably noteworthy that Bucherer also do preowned watches. Aside from the timepieces, there were also some exquisite rings and here are some of my picks for Fine Jewellery Gifting.
Ring, white gold - Peekaboo
This ring from the Peekaboo collection is a timeless statement. The 18 carat white gold is the perfect basis for a wonderful, delicate sea blue aquamarine. Its cushion design and cut (2.00 carat in total) and the pavé setting make the colour appear even clearer and more delicate. It's intricate nine brilliant-cut diamonds (0.04 carat in total) really ameliorate the sparkle.
Bangle, rose gold - Classics
I have a thing for the classics. This bangle is a classic, bold and flashy. The elaborate design makes the exquisite shimmer of the rose gold look particularly beautiful. It's something of a show stopper and wearing this piece is all it takes to attract envious glances.
Sautoir, rose gold - Venice
This necklace is interesting. The shapes are almost indefinable, maybe close to an ACE in a deck of cards. It is made from 18 carat rose gold, which makes the inlaid elements appear delicately glossy and filigree. Some of them are filled with a structure of mother of pearl (10.5 carat in total) and create a dazzling effect.
The Power of Love
Whilst writing this blog post and thinking back at my visit to the Bucherer store in Covent Garden, I’ve remembered so many other pieces of jewellery that were just incredible and can not wait for that next special occasion that i can treat my girlfriend to something truly memorable from Bucherer.
This post was created in collaboration with Bucherer but all thoughts are my own.
