BAMFORD LONDON X LAND ROVER: WATCH INSPIRED BY THE DEFENDER

Today I want to tell you all about the new limited edition LR001 watch that is a product of the latest collaboration between Bamford London and Land Rover. Designed by the team at Land Rover and built by Bamford London, just 100 examples are available worldwide. The LR001 watch is available directly from Bamford London with a UK RRP of £1,350 (including VAT).

Reflecting the Defender design language, the LR001 combines restrained surfaces with inherent capability. Built to last with a 40mm titanium case and a premium Sellita SW200-1b automatic movement, with a refined ruthenium anthracite finish it embodies sustainability through longevity.

I think most of you will be familiar with Land Rover. They've been manufacturing authentic 4x4s since 1948. Their model range spans across the Defender, Discovery, Discovery Sport, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Velar and Range Rover Evoque.  

Perhaps some of you may be less familiar with Bamford London however. Bamford London is the world’s ultimate hub for personalised luxury products, founded by George Bamford. Here is a short excerpt from the Bamford London site that I just love, 

After being offered a Rolex Daytona for his 18th birthday, he went to a dinner party and found out that half of the guests were wearing the same watch. Looking for something more personal and exclusive, he asked the family business if there was a way to change the steel colour on his Rolex, and as a result applied a DLC coating to his watch. DLC coatings have been used in various fields since the 1970s, but it was almost unheard of in the watch industry. As he found out, applying a DLC coating on steel turned the watch totally black. While on holidays in the south of France, his black Rolex got a lot of attention and George came back to the UK with 25 orders. Bamford Watch Department was born.

About the LR001 Watch itself

Encased in grey titanium, the visually engaging design has a toned grey cut-away dial that highlights its technical precision. Underneath the cutaway dial is the hidden luminescence, emitting a subtle green hue for low-light use. It features subtle ‘LR001’ text in Bamford’s signature aqua blue at six o’clock on the dial.

Four resilient bio-based 18mm straps are available, in black, navy, light tan and dark tan. Each one is a sustainable alternative to traditional leather. The black, light tan and dark tan options are created from corn-derived sustainable PU leather, while the navy option is made of Cordoba, a woven recycled nylon coated to be hydrophobic and durable.
