Annabelle Hotel: Paphos Cyprus - Reviewed
The second destination on our trip over to Cyprus, was the Annabelle Hotel in Paphos. Not overly different in style compared to the Grecian Park Hotel we stayed at in Protaras. I would say this feels a little breezier, more lighter in terms of colour and feels like it has more modern decor. Which isn't a sleight on the Grecian Park Hotel, in fact I liked the decor in that one as the darker woods suited my colour palette.
That said, the Annabelle Hotel is more practical for a holiday if you're looking to experience more of the locality. For example there are many excellent restaurants within a short walk. The restaurants at the hotel were also amazing, but if you're staying for a longer spell you'll want to have a more connected experience with the locale and its treasures.
The room was large; a big glass window that let an enormous amount of light into the room and offered some incredible vistas. There were plenty of hangers (a big plus when there are two of you travelling together with 4 suitcases!) We stayed in the sea view garden suite with Whirlpool jacuzzi which was delightful. The main draw for us with this suite is the private outdoor space you have plus the proximity to the swimming pools, restaurants and sea. The pools (of which there are 4) all came with bar staff, and the service was very personable. The pools are all on different levels, in the middle of beautiful Cypriot gardens giving it a real feel of privacy. We got to know most of the bartenders by name. (Which may or may not be a good thing). However, I won't be taking holidays for granted anymore since the varying degrees of lockdown. I felt like Mark Hannah ordering martinis pool side,
'bring two more martini's every five minutes after that until one of us passes out' - One for you Wolf of Wall Street fans.
The roof top restaurant is not to be missed at sundown should you stay at the Annabelle Hotel. Tuula and I loved every minute of it and it felt extra special having her here to experience this with me. She has also won the lottery as well by-the-by. To all you folk on Instagram saying I'm a jammy so-and-so. She ain't done half bad neither!!!
But in all seriousness, this was a real couples hotel. The restaurants and the edge of elegance sea views by candle light made this hotel extra special. The Asteras restaurant boasts innovative gourmet dining at candlelit tables overlooking the illuminated water gardens whilst the Mediterraneo serves their signature ‘cucina incredible’ and speaks to the heart of the Italian gastronomic tradition.
It felt nice to be waited on, and without conscience. I didn't feel bad for leaning on the service staff to ensure everything was catered for. They really did cater to our every need, from wine recommendations to extra towels etc. Thank you all at Annabelle Hotel.
