SOUND OF THE BRAVE | NEW DIESEL FRAGRANCE REVIEW

SOUND OF THE BRAVE is the newest ONLY THE BRAVE aftershave by Diesel that invites you to share your sound. If I could bottle my sound right now the treble would be the sizzling meat on my BBQ, the mid-range would consist of a cacophony of footy chants and the base would be a throbbing overhead pass of the Red Arrows. (Must get that in the shops for Christmas). I digress. This latest release SOUND OF THE BRAVE sees Diesel introduce hip-hop legend SKEPTA as a brand ambassador. 

THE NOTES

Top Notes: Spices of Juniper and Lemon Essences
Heart Notes: Bison Grass Accord
Base notes: Amber Wood, Musk

THE BOTTLE

The bottle, like all Diesel fragrances certainly stands out on the shelf. I like the creativity behind it, not every bottle has to be shaped like a Corinthian Column after all. It's an intriguing fist shaped bottle that actually makes it that extra special for gifting. 

THE SMELL

First impressions are that it has a very citrusy/peppery opening. It has a spicy follow through yet not aggressive-spicy. It's very light, it's subtle and almost too polite. There isn't much of an X-Factor with this, although you can enjoy its affordable-ness. 

It does get to the woodiness early on, and hangs around for a while but doesn't overstay its welcome. The woodiness also has a deftness to it. It doesn't scream manliness, but whispers it. For that reason I wouldn't wear this scent on a date. I wouldn't wear it to any social or press event. In all honesty I probably wouldn't look to buy this for myself just because I can't envisage an environment where I would call for it. 

WHO WOULD BUY THIS? 

I've always said there is room in life for hamburgers. And there is always a place for a scent in a man's life that doesn't pull out trees. The me of ten years ago, working I.T and being in that office environment would have certainly had this in his scent carousel. It's lively enough, it's not complex and it doesn't project heavily. Yet if someone is leaning in over your shoulder inspecting your spreadsheets, this scent will be a very pleasant surprise for your co-worker. 

It does sit close to the skin, it is quite sweet so I imagine men in their twenties, or perhaps someone looking to get into upgrading their wardrobe and their scent library, this is a good place to start. 

COMPLIMENTS AND REVIEWS

I should say that I got a very good reaction of the bottle from fellow gym members. Great to be back at KOBOX by the way. The fist pump bottle is actually very appropriate for the gym. It certainly gets people’s attention that way and that can rarely be said for aftershave bottles.
