NEW: BVLGARI PARFUMS MAN TERRAE ESSENCE
Today I'm talking about the 2021 release, Bvlgari Man Terrae Essence by Bvlgari. A nuanced Woody fragrance for men. The nose behind this fragrance is Alberto Morillas. The collar of each bottle is one of a kind, inspired by the unpredictable beauty of travertine marble and crafted using a technique where two different colours are injected into the material. Travertine is a form of terrestrial limestone deposited around mineral springs, especially hot springs.
About
Bvlgari Parfums is the latest addition to Bvlgari's ‘Man’ line: Man Terrae Essence. The fragrance itself is a woody vetiver fragrance with notes of citrus, vetiver essence and leathery terrae accord. Warm and masculine, Bvlgari Man Terrae Essence captures the fertility of earth and generosity of nature.
Notes
Top notes are Citron and Calamansi; Middle notes are Orris and Vetiver; Base notes are Earthy Notes and Styrax.
First Impressions
This is quite a foreign scent. Lots of unregistered notes. A compendium of exotic pulls that yank me into unchartered waters. Of course I'm fluid with Vetiver, and that comes in with a welcome hug. It elevates all the other scents in its wake, like a prince that has just casually walked in the room unannounced and caught his security off-guard.
It has all the romantic mystique of that high school crush. Waiting together for the bus under the old oak tree. The only 2 minutes you ever had alone with her. Shuffling feet and nasal gazing. But she gets you. She reads your poems. Her name is all over those diaries you kept from your Mum in that draw by the bed.
After awhile
I enjoyed this fragrance. It's warm and it has maturity. It has that lost-leather smell, although there is no leather noted. On the dry-down it took me to that same place; when your curiosity gets the better of you. (Some time ago...) I'm in Covent Garden, I've ducked in to a museum to get out of the rain. On display is a newly restored cream E-Type jag with black interiors. Whilst no one is looking, I poke my nose through the driver’s window and capture the leather, and lock it in. There is that smell in this fragrance. It might not be leather, but a symposium of classic craftsmanship. There's earth, resinous warm ambery follow throughs.
The Iris must be dialled back all the way because I'm reaching for it, but finding nothing.
Where to wear it?
Not for the office. Too good for that. Take your woman on a walk round the lakes you used to fish on a weekend. Afternoon, cool winds, wrap up. Re-capture those two minutes under the Oak Tree and hope the bus never comes. On reality's terms, you should surprise her with this. Maybe it's a new promise you're making her.
