Xiaomi Mi 10 5G Smartphone Review
Today I'm going to talk to you about the Xiaomi Mi 10 that I’ve been road-testing in my daily life over the past 7 days.
The main highlight for the Xiaomi Mi 10 is that it's compatible with 5G. With a wider 5G roll-out round the corner this not only gives you optimal performance but really future proofs your phone in an ever changing industry.
The design, look and feel of the phone is super slick. Incredibly immersive with edge to edge design. It's a true lure and it's actually a fun phone, very bright.
The display has a 90hz refresh rate so is incredibly quick, stunning to look at and engage with. The battery life is around 9-10 hours on screen time. I know folk that have gotten 11 hours - this is a must for someone like me that is creating content, not to have something that needs a recharge whilst I'm out recording.
Whilst I'm on the subject of content creation, the back camera will deliver some amazing shots using the powerful 108MP quad camera. A more powerful and responsive camera system lets you capture more vivid 108MP photos faster, and store it using 50% less space. If you like to burst photos, the Qualcomm processor allows you to take pictures super fast, processing 2 billion pixels per second. It's amazing how much the camera is such a huge deal clincher for some, me included. The back camera won't disappoint with its 4k and 8k recording functions. I've tried it in low light, works well with no over exposure compensation you might find in other brands.
The front facing camera doesn't have the 4k or 60 frames a second functionality that the back camera has. It runs at 1080, which is liveable, but just remind yourself of that when you’re filming for Instagram, YouTube or TikTok!
I don't tend to record much on the go, (unless it's Insta stories which I'm not precious about) so the stabilisation is not much of a consideration for me. That said I do feel like it could be improved. I think the Pro version has more powerful capabilities in that area. There are tiny amounts of camera stutter when I pan and run, but it's only perceptible if you're really looking for it.
One of the massive selling features for me is the charge time. I can get full charge from 5 to 100% in just under an hour. I still have to charge it over night, which is not really a problem. You can also charge it wirelessly which will play a huge factor when we're allowed out again.
RECAP:
Camera, excellent. Records incredible 8k footage and the battery life is not compromised for having a good-to-excellent refresh rate.
BONUS:
You know how I like to feed my dog Charlie Watermelon and have him catch his treats. The slow-mo video capture is the best I've seen. This means that Charlie gets a lot more treats and I kill few more hours in lockdown getting that perfect catch-the-biscuit shot!
