Daily Skincare Routine for Stressed Skin
Skincare products for Stressed skin x Carl Thompson.jpg

Today I'm going to talk about what would be the best skincare routine for stressed skin. I will also be recommending some products that I may have spoken about before, these are grooming products that I incorporate in my daily routine. First, I'd like to talk about some ingredients that you should be looking for in these products and what effect they can have on your skin.

Good ingredients for stressed skin are anti-inflammatory (Turmeric), hydration (glycerin & Hyaluronic Acid).

Turmeric

Turmeric has already been embraced by foodies and health experts, it’s a must-have ingredient featured in drinks, supplements – and now skincare. The positives of using Turmeric on your skin are that it offers healing properties for irritated and inflamed skin.

I use the Neutrogena® turmeric-infused skincare range Clear & Soothe that was launched earlier this year of which the Toning Mist is my hero product of the range. You can check out my blog for a full review on that here.

What can I use to hydrate my skin?

Should I use glycerin? I hear you cry. Glycerine is a good humectant, it attracts water from the skin, from the atmosphere and it can absorb multiple times its own weight in water.

Hyaluronic acid is mean to have anti-ageing products and claim to be able to stimulate collagen and all of that is nonsense. Molecules are too large to get down to where it would interact with cells. It stays on the top layers of the skin so for  that reason it's not better than glycerine. That said, they do both work in hydrating the skin, but the marketing teams will have you believe one is better than the other and they can do wizardry stuff. Not the case.

A moisturiser I would recommend

As many of you know I'm a huge fan of Tom Ford Beauty. The Tom Ford moisturiser is a bit pricey but you get what you pay for sometimes.

It does have glycerin and many other ingredients that will help and soothe the skin. It's quick absorbing, I use it on my skin and it does reenergise. Also smells really good. Must be all the butters.

Other moisturisers I recommend are the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Product Range and the La Mer moisturiser. Again in terms of price we're far beyond entry level and gifting. Unless you really like someone. This super hydrator optimises the rest of your La Mer regime and it works well to develop your skin tone so I like to incorporate this one where I can.
