Christmas Theatre in London | The Shows You Need to Catch
Christmas is here. It feels like it sprang out of nowhere right? If you're looking to purchase an experience for your partner or family member then I've scribbled down some London Theatre Shows that you should definitely check this Christmas.
GOLDILOCKS AND THE THREE BEARS
The London Palladium: Running until JAN 12th
For: The Family
4/5 stars in the Evening Standard. They have brought out the heavy hitters for this one. Seasoned Pantomime veteran Julian Clary and Paul O'Grady combine circus acts with magic and bondage gags. Apparently.
THE NUTCRACKER
London Coliseum: Running until JAN 5th
For: Romantic Date
3/5 stars in the Evening Standard. (Although I do read other papers by the way). The Coliseum is a beautiful theatre, but don't eat at FUMO next door. It's distinctly average.
The Nutcracker is an incredibly romantic and lilting piece of art. The Flower and the Snowflake Waltzes are always a lure and worth the price of entry alone.
A CHRISTMAS CAROL
Old Vic: Running until JAN 18th
For: Your friend that’s visiting from out of town
Nick Curtis of the Evening Standard calls this 'hard hitting, richly textured and shamelessly emotive'. Which has piqued my interest for this immensely. Although I think I actually critiqued a Haig Clubman cocktail the same way the other day.
HAMILTON
Victoria Palace: Running until APRIL 25th
For: To impress a client
Probably the most exclusive and sought after tickets in town. An amazing fusion of Hip Hop and unexpected historical story telling. Even if you're not into HIP HOP or American History, this somehow has captured people’s imaginations. A curve ball of a Christmas present but one that they'll never forget.
DEATH OF A SALESMAN
Piccadilly Theatre: Running until DEC 31st
For: To impress the Father-in-Law
This is the one I'm hearing the most about in my circle of well-heeled chums. It has an exclusive run until the end of the year.
Multi-layered, ethereal, nondescript with hallucinations and flashbacks throughout. Take your clever date to see this but maybe read up on it first and plagiarise some theories.
